I am Vindhyawasini Prasad, assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. Prior to joining IIT Roorkee (March 2026), I was a postdoctoral researcher at Louisiana State University, where I worked with Prof. Muriel Brückner in Civil and Environmental Engineering department. My post-doc research is focused on numerical modeling of the Wax Lake Delta considering the effects of vegetation life-cycle. We focused on understanding the inundation of the river-dominated deltas for variable discharges using numerical models (ANUGA). We used a calibrated model of Wax Lake Delta and developed exploratory models capable of capturing the behavior of a real-world delta.
I got my PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Fall 2024 where I worked with Prof. Rafael Tinoco (Ecohydraulics and Ecomorphodynamics Lab). My PhD research was focused on developing a novel barrier to capture the eggs and larvae of invasive carp using laboratory experiments. Prior to that I did my master's at Clemson University where I was a part of Prof. Kalyan Piratla's lab. I did my undergrad at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in Civil Engineering. My curriculum vitae (CV - not updated) can be seen here.
